The study of witchcraft in Africa is hampered by the devaluing Euro-centric materialist paradigm and the apparent impossibility of making an empirical observation of a metaphysical phenomenon. This book shows the possibility of freeing oneself from these two obstacles and making an empirical study of sorcery by examining its antithesis which is the practice of the Kôngo divine mystery because the Kôngo religion, the Bukôngo, is an exact science. This new approach to the study of witchcraft can be generalized to all Black African cultures because it has been shown that all variants of African traditional religion are devolutions of Bukongo.
