What is the real age of the oldest vampire?
A vampire who has lived for centuries must be far stronger than one who was transformed just a few decades ago, if age does grant power.
But what about those who have been around for a millennium or more?
Vampires have been living with us, possibly since ancient Egypt, or ancient Rome, or even before.
Over time, they may have gone through multiple identity shifts, watched the rise and fall of civilizations; and learnt how to stay hidden.
Is it possible that some of the vampires who exist now are older than the historical civilizations?
How strong would they have grown if it were the case?
But do vampires age much more slowly than humans, or are they really immortal?
They may still be able to get older, but at such a slow pace that it seems like they will live forever.
If this is the case, will even the oldest vampires eventually die?

The strain trilogy... I've read the books. The explanation of those vamps was disappointing, but human nature in the book is damn well taken! Good read.

Your question is not easy to answer, we have to first define what lore you are asking about... if you mean mythological vampires. If you want to think about real modern vampirism among humans, then no modern vampire predates Dracula in Bram Stockers' book.

My only vampire-related book was Bram Stoker's Dracula.
However, that was when I was your age.
I went on to read other books.
As well as other authors, I recommend Thomas Mann and Kafka.
An excellent beginning would be Doctor Faustus.

Also the book Interview with the Vampire has some ideas about it. (In that book vamps live up to few centuries before they get disconnected from society and one way or the other suicide themselves)

I would say that it does, fifty fifty with drinking blood, which also might be a booster for magic growth. (some real life people do practice energy feeding for the reason to make themselves more powerful in the long run) In logic as you age, you become experienced. You also however need proper mindset. Without that, you get stuck and stop growing or even degenerate. How is that for a vampire depends purely on their mentality, but definitely a factor. Older vampire is not always the more powerful one. Some develop their power slower, some not at all. Every vampire is former human, I suppose, so just like humans vary in potential, so do vampires made out of them.

So we cannot put development of power on a line to be counted with math. Not to mention that their speed of gaining power won't be the same all the time either.
