Hello i would like to share my experience. I've received the Hekataeon last year in fall, and immediately reading and i did the initial "initiation" rites consisting of 9 days. I had to redo these days twice because my first time, as told in the book theres a possibility after drawing some consacrated stones you are not ready yet, and thats what happened to me. The stones said no and i had to redoit. It was my first time invoking a goddess so i was just too in the moment and tense, and doing things mechanically/ too quickly and not standing there observing and noting what i was feeling. So the second time it was all smoother since i already knew what i had to do, and you get used to the consacration of the space and prep time.
I also wanted to look in detail why jack Grayle decided to use cinnamon for cleaning yourself beforehand, maybe in the pgm and i havent find anything yet but more expert members could help here.
After the initiation i had to constract a stropholos and bind a familiar Iynx. That process was really fun. And now when i use the iynx i dont have material verifications, but i feel theres something there in the wheel. Anyway for now my experience with the hekataeon is really good, because it gives you a basic consacration of the space ritual, a oratory tool, an iynx to help you in your practice and other things. I really like the ispiration he took building some symbolas of animals like the ancient traditions, and the consacration of a sacred blade usefull for future operations. Also some philactery is present so its cool.
My only concern, and i think thats the reason i wont follow it stricly for more experienced ritual, is the whole pasiphae ritual involving a wodden fallus and such and other rituals that are not for me....
So im already reading other Hekate books, the chaldean oracles and the PGM to have a more complete picture and exploring stuff on my own. I'm new here but i hoped i helped!
